BLM to host Secretary of the Interior
at Five Mile Pass Clean up
Secretary Gail Norton has confirmed
that she will be attending a work/service project at Five Mile Pass with
the Salt Lake District Office of the Bureau of Land Management. This
clean up will be in conjunction with the Public Lands Day on September
28th, 2002. This is a great opportunity to meet some key BLM individuals
and potentially the Secretary.
We complain too frequently that
there are too few positive things said about the OHV and ATV community
in the local and national press, when we are involved in community service
frequently. Now will be the best opportunity to show for the Secretary
of the Interior as well as the local press who will no doubt come out to
cover the activities of the Secretary during this clean up activity.
On our last clean up event we
loaded three dumpsters with the refuse of humanity. We can do that
plus much more. It seems to come in faster than we can haul it out.
Families and Clubs are welcome
to join in the general clean up effort once again. Please consider
this opportunity seriously. A giant turn out would make all the difference
in the world in how people view our community. Please consider this opportunity
your personal mission against rural trash terrorists.
Here's what you will need:
-
Bring a truck, trailer, ATV, ATV Trailer, or what ever you
need to haul things as large as washing machines and old couches to beer
cans and water bottles
-
Come prepared to work from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
-
Bring your lunch and plenty of water.
-
The BLM will provide dumpsters to haul off the refuse.
