Reservation Ridge

Reservation ridge runs along the south-western edge of  the Ashley National Forest and is the border between the Ashley and Uinta National Forests.

Please refer to the Roosevelt/Duchesne Ranger District Travel Map for a complete review of the rules and regulations governing this area.  You will also find that the Spanish Fork Canyon Recreation Travel Map - Uinta National Forest (Addendum to Utah Interagency Recreation Travel Map) is a useful tool for this area.

Access

When one normally thinks of the Ashley National Forest they normally consider going east to Duchesne for access.  However, since this trail runs the southwest border of the forest the most direct route is south east from Salt Lake County.

Trailhead

The map shows no trail head or parking accomodations, however, the Uinta National Forest permits ATV travel along FR 081.  Presumably, somewhere in this section of road there is a location where you may find a place appropriate to pull off and unload your machines.

I'll have to let you know more when I get there.

Trail

Traveling FR 081 to the ridge where the trail intersects with FR 147, you may ride five miles along 147 to FR 076.  ATV travel beyond this intersection is presently not permitted, but is open to automobile traffic.   It is open to automobile traffic.  Please refer to the Avintaquin Area Trails for more information on that section of road.

Going north from that point offers no less than 12 trails/routes on the Ashley National Forest side that are open to ATV travel.   The majority of these routes extend to the northeast just a mile or so.  These include FR 076, FR 071, FR 074 FR 517,  FR 070, FR 069, FR 033, Fr 358, and FR 301.  These are all short routes.   The longer routes are FR 066  which meets with FR 148 and loops back along FR 149.  Twelve Hundred Dollar Ridge (aka FR 200) extends for several miles beyond FR 081 (Reservation Ridge Road)

There is but one forest road that extends westward from the ridge aside from FR 081, the one you would have come up, it is FR 119.  It follows Tabbyune Creek down the western slope of the ridge.  It also has several spurs to the north and south making this an interesting area to check out.

This is a summary of the routes that are available to ATV travel in the Reservation Ridge area.  I have yet to explore these routes personally.  If you have such experience and would care to add your experience, please feel free to do so.
