Darin and Jill's Family

Adventure at the top of the world...

Darin and Jill, new ATV owners (and readers of the Utah ATV Trails web site), found a new favorite riding venue at the top of the world.   If you've ever wondered what the view from 11,000 feet is like here are a few samples, and their commentary:

Just an additional note:  Darin and Jill and all their children have been trained and certified, and you will also notice that they all wear helmets and proper protective clothing...

We used your site to discover the trail up Tibble Fork past Silver Lake Flats.  (The one where you almost ran out of gas.)  You mentioned that you turned around at about 9000 ft, but we followed it (10 miles from the trailers) to the top of the mountain. At the top it is 11,000 feet according to my GPS and Oh! the view!  Very nice ride through the trees and back and forth up the bowl.  Our little 2-stroke Suzuki 80 gasped to a stop at about 10,000 ft and we finished the trail to the top on our 2 Kawasakis.  I'm not sure if their is another way down the other side, as a we took pictures and quickly headed back due to the big black clouds and wind rolling in.  (Glad we had light coats in the saddle bags)  The 2-stroke has to coast down to about 9000  before it would start again.  4 hrs up and down (we're kind of slow with the kids.)

Great trail!

This is the lower of the two peaks taken from the upper one.  Driving down towards those two ATV's you can see, you get the feeling you are about to drive off the edge of the world! Part of the family on the top.  The mountain top right is a view of the backside of Mount Timpanogos that few people get to see.
The big thunderheads rolling in behind us are the reason our first trip up was short!  The ride was so good though, we headed back up less than a week later. Another shot of Timp.  That small lake is Silver Lake.
The ride up was a nice ride through the trees for the most part.  It had lots of variety culminating in switchbacks up the bowl to the peak. I think the kids had as much fun crossing the river as any other part of the ride!

More adventures to come...
