Dear GWTA member, and potential new members.

        We are writing to inform you of three very important Great Western Trail events for this year.

JUST A NOTE:

        The Envionmental Assessment (EA) of the proposed GWT route across the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument has been completed.  It has been made available for public comment.  They have rendered a finding of no significant impact; meaning that the GWT's impact to the Monument will be negilgible.  We expect a ruling soon.

        The Annual Member Meeting is scheduled for May 31^st in Salt Lake City.  We will be honored to have Congressman Hansen in attendance.  The member meeting will be held in conjunction with a GWTA Summit with the partnering agencies.  At the Summit these partnerships will be reaffirmed through the resigning of our Memorandum of Understanding.

        Membership Dues continue to be $25.00 per year per family.

            Year Calandar of Events:

June 1st is National Trails Day.  Activities are planned to allow us to get out and enjoy the GWT or participate in needed work projects.  How about adopting your own section of trail to maintain.

June 21, 22, & 23 is or Membership Rendezvous.  Come any or all days.  On Saturday the Utah GreatWestern Trail will supply hamburgers and hot dogs and a drink.  We ask that you bring a side dish.  We will meet at Tropic Reservoir, by Bryce Canoyn.  From Tropic Reservoir you have three trail heads.  The Fremont Trail, GWT, Pansagaunt Trail and access to Procter Canyon, Hatch, Pangutch and the Beautiful Casto Canyon.
            Come prepared for three days of fun.

September 7, is our Annual Great Western Trail Rendezvous Trail Ride.  This year we will ride from Strawberry Bay Marina to Soldier Summit and return fro all you can eat Prime Rib.  Lots of prizes, poker run and a great Auction.
