It's no secret that 45 minutes away from Salt Lake
is FIVE MILE PASS. A few weekends ago, after ridding with the webmaster
of this Great ATV sight that you are logged on to,(www.utahatvtrails.com)
I decided to take my 17 year old son to experience this ATV fun spot, just
the two of us. We left around 3:00 PM friday to spend the night and do
some ridding. Let me start by telling everyone that our ATV'S were
a 400 HOnda Kodiak and a 1984 200 three-wheeler,, having ridden these trails
before, I wanted my son to really have a great time so he drove the Kodiak.
Lets face it, a three wheeler really doesn't hold the road like a 4 wheeler,
and after 62 miles I'm here to tell you, leave the three wheeler at home,or
stay on the flats and small hills, or don't tell your 17 year old son "
I'll follow you." I'm not saying I didn't have a great time, I was
just glad to see our camp after each ride.
This ride was a great way to keep our already good relationship even
better, I didn't even mind the BBQ poptarts for breakfast.or the pound
and a half of dust I ate following on the trail.
A few things caught my attention,,,#1 we only saw two people without
helmets, and after years of riding thats pretty good !! However, please
wear you helmets! # 2 There are still a lot of spots that have garbage
all over. We picked-up as much as we could carry. If you looked
at the special edition of the Utah ATV Trails News letter this week you
will see that on April 20th is a BLM
EARTH DAY CELEBRATION ( hug the pass ) this is a great opportunity
to show your support as a ATV'er and outdoorsmen, that we do care, and
we want to keep the land open to use and enjoy, as we all do!
lets KEEP THE RIDE ALIVE !!
Thanks everyone: G. Larsen.
