BLM Earth Day Celebration - Hug the Pass on April 20th

Who can doubt that one of Utah's favorite OHV play areas, outside of the Little Sahara, is found just forty miles south of Salt Lake City and ten miles west of Lehi at Five Mile Pass?  Appropriately, the BLM has chosen this area to focus their Earth Day celebration.
Britta Laub, the Recreation Specialist for the BLM's Salt Lake Field Office is inviting participants from all recreational disciplines to come to the Pass and join in a major clean up of the area.  The word is, there is a good possibility that some of the leaders of the BLM on a National level may be out there to assist in the effort.  This will likely bring representatives of the press to document this activity for the evening news.  It will be a great opportunity to show that your club, or family are real participants in the environmental movement offered by OHV participation.   The event will be held on April 20th and the festivities will begin at 10:00 AM at the main staging area at Five Mile Pass.  Obviously, there can be no guarantee of the participation of these national dignitaries and the resulting press coverage, but the effort will be well worth it with or without the national media coverage.
Bring your ATV/garden trailers and fill them to the gills with the refuse  from the thoughtless humanity who have left their trash for others to pick up.  Who will bring in the most trash?  Will it be the mountain bikers, the Boy Scouts, horsemen, hikers, dirt riders, ATVers or the Jeepers?  No matter, what really counts is that the area is returned to a place of beauty amidst the trails.  A visit to the area this past weekend revealed hundreds of beer cans and other refuse strewn far and wide.  One of the camping areas was picked up on that trip, but there are plenty of other unsightly messes out there.
The BLM will bring along several dumpsters for refuse and garbage so you won't have to fill your own cans at home.
It would also be a nice touch to wear your club/family "colors" and be recognized for your club's contribution to the cause.
If you would like more information for your group, family or organization, please feel free to contact Britta Laub at the BLM Salt Lake Field Office 977-4300 ext 389 or you may also e-mail Britta at "Britta_Laub@ut.blm.gov"

Please... Pass this invitation on to all your friends who love to ATV.
